On the morning of October 24, 2023, at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Tran Trong Toan - Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang - Deputy Director of the External Relations Department and representative of the Planning and Investment Department had a meeting with the Delegation of Ministry of the Environment, Japan led by Mr. Hideki Wada - Solid Waste Management Expert - Director of Vietnam Waste Planning Company (VWP).

Mr. Hideki Wada - Mr. Hideki Wada - Solid Waste Management Expert - Director of VWP Company informed that, within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam (MONRE) and the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ) since in 2018, the two sides achieved success in promoting solutions for solid waste management and developing waste-to-energy incineration projects (WtE) in Vietnam. Currently, MOEJ is conducting a study to promote the development of WtE projects in Vietnam, through which one or two localities will be selected to implement the project and will receive development support from the Japanese Ministry of the Environment.
Delivering his speech at the meeting, Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Trong Toan said that Dong Nai was an industrial province so it paid great attention to environmental protection. The province has implemented many solutions to effectively manage, collect and treat waste. At the same time, the Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment hoped to learn from Japan's experience in waste-to-energy incineration to implement the project in the province.
