On January 21, 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an online conference on economic diplomacy serving socio-economic recovery and development in 2022 on Cisco Webex platform. Attending the conference were Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, leaders of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, heads of Vietnamese representative missions abroad, leaders of People's Committees of provinces and cities, leaders of departments of the Foreign Affairs Ministry. On Dong Nai’s end, there were Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang - Deputy Director of Dong Nai DER, representatives of Industry and Trade Department, Planning and Investment Department, Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority and Ms. Bui Thi To - Head of the International Cooperation Division, Dong Nai DER.

Delivering his speech at the opening, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said that this was the first time the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a conference to review economic diplomacy with the participation of Vietnamese representative missions abroad, localities and enterprises; The Minister affirmed that economic diplomacy could be just effectively implemented with the support, close coordination as well as active and proactive participation of localities and enterprises. Therefore, the conference was held to better understand the needs of economic development and needs of enterprises for setting a direction in 2022.
At the conference, participants listened to the report on economic diplomacy results in 2021 and direction for tasks in 2022; presentations given by Vietnamese ambassadors to a number of countries such as France, the UK, Thailand, China, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia and leaders of the People's Committees of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. The presentations focused on the assessing the results of economic diplomacy implementation in 2021 and direction for tasks in 2022.
