​On the afternoon of August 13, 2021, the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City held a webinar “India - An Emerging Global Power and Its Relationship with Vietnam”. This is the first activity in a series of webinars in the areas of India’s socio-cultural, political and economic identity to enhance interaction, engagement and promote mutual understanding between people of India and Vietnam.

Attending the webinar were H.E.Mr. Pranay Verma - Ambassador of Republic of India to Vietnam, Mr. Shyam Saran - Former Foreign Secretary of India, Prof. S.D.Muni - Foreign Policy Expert of India, Dr. Ton Sinh Thanh, Former Ambassador of Socialist Republic of Vietnam to India, Assoc.Prof. Hoang Van Viet, Director of Thai Center, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM, Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi - Consul General of India in HCMC and government employees of localities. On the side of Dong Nai Province, attending the webinar was Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang - Deputy Director of Dong Nai Department of External Relations.

Delivering his speech at the opening of the webinar, H.E. Mr. Pranay Verma - Ambassador of Republic of India to Vietnam informed that the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of India is also an important milestone to remember the 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations between India and Vietnam. Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1972, the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and India has been developing fruitfully in all fields and promoting to new heights.

At the webinar, the speakers presented the following topics: Overview of key achievements of 75 years of India’s Independence, including: India as the emerging global power and Foreign Policy of India in the last 75 years; Milestones of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and India; Vietnam’s on current India’s foreign policy.
